About Mitchelle

I’m Mitchelle Matharu—
a Yoga Alliance certified E-RYT® 200, RYT® 500, YACEP®,
a NAMA Certified Ayurvedic Health Counselor (AHC),
and a Registered Professional Member of the Indian Yoga Association (YPM: Yoga Prashikshak), the Indian equivalent of Yoga Alliance, rooted in traditional standards of yogic education.
I received my Ayurvedic training directly under the guidance of Dr. Vasant Lad at the Ayurvedic Institute, and have furthered my studies in Ayurveda with Dr. David Frawley, deepening my understanding of classical Vedic knowledge systems.
I am currently studying Vedic Astrology under the guidance of Penny Farrow, in the lineage of Mantriji and Hart Defouw, integrating cosmic insight into holistic healing.
I am an initiate of the Himalayan Tradition of Swami Rama, walking a path rooted in mantra, meditation, and inner discipline. This living lineage informs both my personal sadhana and the subtle depth of everything I share.
Training in Yoga Sutra and Bhagavad Gita chanting at Kaivalyadhama Yoga Institute has allowed me to carry forward the vibrational and oral traditions of these sacred texts within my teaching.
As a teacher at The Yoga Institute, I offer In-depth Yoga Techniques grounded in tradition and yogic philosophy, and I also lead guest lectures, workshops, and Ayurvedic wellness programs for the institute, studios, and communities. My work is devoted to making these teachings experiential, accessible, and deeply transformative.
Alongside this work, I practice Reiki within the Komyo ReikiDo lineage, weaving subtle energy awareness into classes that blend movement, breath, and self-inquiry—creating space for students to reconnect with their innate intelligence.
I am also the voice behind Audio Revelations, a podcast exploring inner awareness, subtle energetics, and the lived experience of spiritual practice.
My connection to yoga began in childhood, growing up behind The Yoga Institute in Santa Cruz. Though I stepped into practice more deeply later in life, a turning point led me inward—what began as a search for grounding became a lifelong path.
From the banks of Mother Ganga in Rishikesh to immersive study in the Gitananda lineage in Pondicherry, my journey has been shaped by devotion, discipline, and direct experience. These teachings were not only studied, but lived.
My background as a UX Designer reflects another dimension of my work: creating thoughtful, intentional experiences. Whether in digital spaces or sacred practice, I am drawn to designing pathways that feel intuitive, seamless, and deeply human.
Rooted in a family of farmers, my connection to the rhythms of nature and holistic living has always been intrinsic. My personal healing journey through digestive imbalance further deepened my commitment to Ayurveda—not just as knowledge, but as lived wisdom.
Today, my work is an offering.
Through yoga, Ayurveda, breathwork, energy healing, and Jyotish, I support individuals in reconnecting with their inner rhythm—guiding them toward balance, clarity, and self-awareness.
This path is not about fixing.
It is about remembering.
